You know, you never really told me much about your mentor in the past. What were they like?

they were awesome. they didnt actively stop me from doing whatever i wanted, just gave me polite advice that didnt feel like orders or something

honestly, I respect them a lot, they taught me practically everything I know

I'm proud to say I was their apprentice

I put so much effort into everything they told me to, and I did everything I could to please them

but they never really said anything about it?

I tried so hard for so many years to be the best apprentice I could be

I just… I barely even got a “well done”, you know?

the few times they did say something like that, I was so happy, but they were so few and far between

and every time it did happen, they'd immediately correct themselves and go back to their usual stern tone

I don't know, I feel selfish for thinking this

honestly i get how you feel, it sucks when you try really hard and don't get any appreciation for it

i'm sure they knew best though, they probably had a reason for it

besides, even if I'm not their apprentice anymore, I still go to see them every now and then, I can't keep making excuses not to turn up

youll only get further away from them if you leave it tho

when youre ready, you should really try talking to em properly, maybe next time you meet

maybe you could speak to my old mentor some time. they're pretty chill, really good at this sort of stuff. they could give you some advice on what to do/say and how to work everything out
